Yesenia Cheekinew: From Learning to Lead™ to SHAD

Over the summer, Learning to Lead™ alumna Yesenia Cheekinew was selected to continue her leadership development in Lakehead, Ontario, through a partnership between Minerva BC and SHAD.

SHAD is an immersive learning opportunity for exceptional high school students to recognize their own potential as tomorrow’s leaders. Yesenia, who aspires to be a civil rights lawyer, was one of 800+ students from across Canada chosen to attend.

“I want to be there for people for who need help to keep who they are. Their culture, identity, ethnic group, and religion are things they should be proud of.” – Yesenia Cheekinew.
