One of our favourite aspects of Women Leading the Way™ is discovering each cohort’s success stories. One such narrative always emerges early in the program – a woman who makes an enormous leap on her leadership journey.
In cohort six, which began in January of 2016, that story was Hana Doubrava’s. She had joined the program with a clear objective: to take her career to the next level, by changing roles and organizations. She was already working with a career coach; she had come to Minerva to acquire what she articulated as the “missing pieces”.
What she discovered is just how good she is at her job.
Through gaining a greater knowledge of her unique strengths and preferences, she was able to unlock her understanding of her team’s needs and communication styles. More importantly, having a cohort of thirty women on Team Hana gave her great confidence, and she soon soared through a rigorous hiring process to become Corporate Affairs Director at Microsoft. When it came time to finalize her contract, she learned that she’s a killer self-advocate as well.
To see her on stage at We For She, representing Microsoft as a special guest sponsor, was a very happy moment for us. She spoke with great presence, and looked to be exactly where she’s meant to: working at a level that challenges her, having taken on greater leadership.
About her transition, Hana says, “My fulfillment in my role comes from the fact that for the first time in my life, I did proper homework, and I was interviewing them as much as they were interviewing me. I was clear about what I did and did not want.” She thanks Women Leading the Way™ for helping her to achieve that clarity.
If you, or a member of your team, are ready to take the next step on your leadership journey, please apply now for Women Leading the Way™. Our next cohort begins in January 2017.
