For someone who is passionate about what we do, this is a hands-on fundraising role where you will bring an established network of relationships to drive major gifts, planned giving and donor stewardship. This position is best suited to an entrepreneurial-minded, well organized and hands-on experienced fundraising professional seeking to help bring Minerva to a new level of impact by developing and implementing fundraising programs.
As the Director of Partnerships and Engagement, you report directly to the CEO and manage a small team of staff and volunteers. You have strong relationship building skills, you are organized and you like to roll up your sleeves to get the job done. As a member of the management team, you bring a solid base of fundraising skills to Minerva. You have the experience and skills to achieve annual targets and build a sustainable and diversified pipeline to bring growth and financial sustainability to an annual program budget currently at $1M.
Specific duties include:
1. Strategy Development
- Together with the management team, establish clear fundraising goals and strategies
- Develop and execute annual fundraising plans and programs and regularly report on progress
- Develop and execute a major gifts program including corporations, individuals, foundations, and government
- Approve key messages in collateral communications and the website to convey the impact of Minerva’s work
- Provide guidance and support for staff and senior leadership to improve organizational capacity in fundraising and donor management
2. Circle of Friends, Annual Giving Program and Communications
- Steward relationships and engage with new and existing donors ensuring timely thanking and response to queries
- Plan and coordinate publicity and communications strategies for donors and develop effective donor communication materials to inform and to encourage donor support
- Develop and execute strategies to expand the donor base to support organizational sustainability and growth
3. Major Gifts Program and Grant Writing
- Responsibilities include all activities related to donor research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
- Engage other Minerva staff, CEO, Board and Patrons Circle in fundraising activities as appropriate
- Identify and engage with prospective donors in the public and private sectors which align with Minerva’s vision and strategy
- Maintain organizational Donor Perfect™ database of donors and prospects
- Prepare and submit program proposals, letters of inquiry, grant applications, and grant reporting to secure program funding
4. Event Planning and Coordination
- Recommend and coordinate strategic events for the organization, including the preparation and management of event budgets and logistics to build community and connect donors with their impact
- Coordinate event publicity, invitations, and sponsorship opportunities
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business and/or fund development
- Five to seven years demonstrated experience in a donor relations or fundraising role for a charity or non-profit organization with success in donor communications and proposal development
- Experience in leading fundraising activities and initiating effective fundraising strategies and programs
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, with high degree of comfort in making presentations to donors and soliciting gifts
- Demonstrated experience in major donor identification, research, cultivation and stewardship
- Self-motivated, results-oriented and highly independent with the ability to effectively engage others
- Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Experience with DonorPerfect , Constant Contact™, social media and other communications tools an asset
