We received an astounding number of applications from emerging leaders across the province, and were so inspired by their personal stories. This year’s award was given to two deserving individuals in recognition of Michelle Pockey, who was an exceptional leader, and community activist.

“I cannot begin to put to words how much this award means to me and to my children. From the places I have come from, there are many reasons for me not to be where I am today. I am blessed to have been able to pursue an education and a career, to be involved in the community, and to have found healing from the traumas of my past. I have been blessed with so many women in my path who lift me up and who push me forward when I waiver or when I feel weak. Through this award I have once again been lifted and shown that support by women. So for that, as well as this support with my education, I am so humbled, honored and grateful.
