Women on their Way: Charlotte Pecknold

Indigenous Perspectives on the 2017 Face of Leadership™ Score Card

On October 18, Minerva BC released its third edition of the Face of Leadership™ Score Card measuring gender diversity in BC’s 50 biggest revenue-generating companies. For three years, the Score Card has consistently recorded zero women of Indigenous descent on boards and senior management teams.We asked three Indigenous leaders to share their perspectives on these results, and why it’s high time to do better.

Changemakers Spotlight: ICBC

Minerva BC had the opportunity of speaking with Barbara Meens-Thistle, VP of Central Services of ICBC, on some of the internal initiatives supporting gender diversity in ICBC’s leadership. ICBC has had tremendous success with increasing the representation of women in leadership roles by 24% in just three years. Currently, women represent 47% of leadership postitions at ICBC, but ICBC retains its commitment to reach complete gender parity by 2020.

Minerva BC Receives Funding from Status of Women Canada

On September 8th, 2017, Status of Women Canada announced $2.2 million dollars in funding for gender equality projects. Minerva BC was one of 7 organizations to receive funding in British Columbia.

Women on their Way: Autumn Walkem

We met Autumn Walken this past May when she attended Minerva BC’s Learning to Lead weekend. Her magnetic warmth and thoughtful insights naturally made us think, “Wow, this girl is going places!”. Sure enough, Autumn took part in a unique program, Girls on Ice – Alaska, shortly after her weekend at Learning to Lead. We caught up with Autumn after her whirlwind trip across glacial plains.
