
Tanya Wilson, Regional Banquet Manager at Denny’s Restaurants and an alumna of Women Leading the Way™, shares her advice for young women at the start of their career and the importance of understanding your values.
Recently, we had the pleasure of catching up with Charlotte Pecknold, an alumna of Women Leading the Way™ Cohort 8. When she’s not advising Coast Capital Savings members or giving #moneytips on the CTV morning television show, she can be found practicing yoga and arranging flowers in her spare time. Charlotte was eager to share some of the impact of Women Leading the Way™ on her leadership journey.
Minerva BC had the opportunity of speaking with Barbara Meens-Thistle, VP of Central Services of ICBC, on some of the internal initiatives supporting gender diversity in ICBC’s leadership. ICBC has had tremendous success with increasing the representation of women in leadership roles by 24% in just three years. Currently, women represent 47% of leadership postitions at ICBC, but ICBC retains its commitment to reach complete gender parity by 2020.
Ida Adamowicz is a photographer and founder of Wonderful Ida photography and videogprahy. Raised with a camera in her hand, Ida inherited her father’s creative drive and talents. When she’s not photographing Minerva’s events (where her sheer presence increases production value tenfold), she’s expanding her side hustle with additional courses and training.
Tiffany Melius is an alumna of Learning to Lead™ (2014), and Follow a Leader (2014), and is currently the Executive Director of New View Society, as well as the Principal Coach and Founder of Force of Nature Coaching. On her experience with Minerva, Tiffany says, “I was looking for a bit of direction in my life and career, and a woman at work was involved with Learning to Lead. She suggested I apply and I thought, ‘Why not?’. Little did I know it would be a life changing experience!”
Carol Driver is an alumna of Women Leading the Way™ (Cohort 6) and is currently the Manager, Online Auction Operations at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. She started at Ritchie Bros. in 2010 as a Supervisor of Online Global Bidding, which was a bit of leap for her as she came from a customer service background. However, after a few short years she was tasked with taking on their Customer Service group as well as their Online Bidding team.
